Life member of Indian Pugwash Society.  Dr Manish has earlier served as Associate Fellow (2001-2005) with the New Delhi based strategic affairs think-tank, the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses and as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) with the Govt of India (2005-2012).
